I was astonished on arriving at the airport this week, that they have done a deal with a Private Hire company. There is no longer a taxi rank where you can queue up for a cab. Instead you have to pre-book with a private hire company.

The system is chaotic, inconvenient and costs more than the old system. Plus if you have lots of luggage, a child or wheel chair it is much more inconvenient than before. So don't expect to get anywhere quickly.

The new owners of LBIA are obviously more interested in profits than in customers.

Hi Frequentflier - and thanks for that information. I didn't know the taxi rank had disappeared at Leeds Bradford Airport and that is good to know for next time we have to fly from there.

My personal experience with the taxi rank which used to be there is not so good. In fact last time we returned from our holiday, the queue was so long that we would have been there for hours. (And it was already 11pm..)

Very lucky for us as a coincidence a colleague of mine walked past while we were waiting and slowly growing angry with the situation. He gave us a lift back, or we would have been there all night...
