Malta International Airport (MLA) Information
Malta International Airport is located 7kms southwest of Valletta, the capital city of this Mediterranean island-nation. The airport’s terminal building, newly constructed in 1992, handles 2.7 million passengers per year. There are frequent scheduled international flights to the UK, Germany, Italy and North Africa, plus other major cities such as Brussels and Moscow.
Airport parking at Malta
A car park holding up to 650 vehicles is linked to the terminal by a walkway. Parking is free of charge for the first 10 minutes. After that, rates are €1.40 for up to 3 hours, €4.65 for the first day, and €2.90 for each additional day.
Getting to and from Malta
If travelling to Valletta by car from the airport, take the main road to Marsa, and then follow the signs into the city. Bus number 8 departs daily every 20 minutes from outside the check-in hall, bound for Valletta with 10 intermediate stops. Despite all the stops, the journey time is 30 minutes. Taxi service is also available from the airport 24 hours a day. Fixed rates apply to all destinations throughout the island.

Essential facilities include a bank, two ATMs and three currency exchange bureaus. There is also a post office in the check-in hall, plus a chapel, a health clinic and a pharmacy. Shops in the departure lounge sell an assortment of spirits, tobacco, perfumes, sweets, toys, jewellery, newspapers, books and souvenirs. Tax-free shopping for spirits, tobacco and perfumes can be found in the arrivals area. Dining options are offered at a restaurant, two cafeterias, two snack bars, and a delicatessen/wine bar. There are three executive lounges at the airport as well.
